The Three Sisters - KatombaBlue Mountains - Cliff Drive

The Blue Mountains is situated 110km west of Sydney. It is a unique area located in a National Park. The Blue Mountains contains spectacular views of  untamed bush, spectacular rock formations and abundant wildlife and bird life. The blue haze which gives the mountains their name is created by eucalyptus trees evaporating oil evaporating.

The gateway to the Blue Mountains is Leura, marking the start of Cliff Drive; one of the most scenic drives in Australia. Katoomba, the region's centre is home to the Scenic Railway and Three Sisters rock formation.

Numerous bush walking trails are available throughout the National Park giving tourists the opportunity to explore waterfalls, valleys, lookouts, flora and fauna which give this area it's natural appeal.

Jenolan Caves located at the western side of the mountains offers a spectacular display of  limestone cave formations. View some of the world's best limestone stalagmites and stalactites as part of a guided tour.

Hunter Valley and the Vineyards

Beginning just 2 hours north of Sydney, the Hunter Region includes the valley's vineyards as well as the spectacular coastline to the east. The Hunter region encompasses coast of  Port Stephens through Newcastle and south to Lake Macquarie, the high country of Barrington Tops National Park in the north to the vineyards of the Hunter Valley.

Hunter Valley VineyardsThe Hunter Valley Wine Country is Australia's oldest wine producing area, with some of Australia's most famous wineries. Cessnock is the gateway to the vineyards, and Pokolbin is the heart of the wine country.

If water sports are more your scene Lake Macquarie is Australia's largest coastal saltwater lake. The area is used for sailing, canoeing, water skiing, fishing and bushwalking. Travelling north along the coast you reach Newcastle, with it's beaches, harbour and historic sights. As you continue along the coastal route, you reach one of the area's most spectacular and popular holiday resorts - Port Stephens. It offers crystal clear water, beautiful beaches and natural bushland.

As you drive inland you reach Maitland, with its huge range of art galleries , antique and craft shops. To the north of Maitland is Dungog, the gateway to Barrington Tops National Park. This national park abounds with lush bushland and provides the perfect environment for bushwalking, horseriding and outdoor picnics.

Southern Highlands

The Southern Highlands are situated approximately 120 kilometres south west of Sydney. The area centres around the towns of Mittagong, Moss Vale, Berrima, Bowral, Bundanoon, Robertson and Goulburn. Enjoy country walks, a leisurely browse through the many antique shops and art galleries, tour quaint villages or have afternoon tea in front of a crackling log fire. The highlands region features beautiful lakes, waterfalls, canyons, forests, limestone caves and some of the finest gardens in Australia.

Popular bush walking trails include Carrington Falls, Mount Gibraltar, rainforests at Robertson  and the impressive wilderness of Kangaroo Valley to the south.

Fitzroy Falls located at the northern tip of Morton National Park, is a  spectacular waterfall cascading over a rugged cliff. Alternatively another wonder is Wombeyan Caves, one of the best examples of underground limestone formation in Australia.

Outback TracksNew England

The New England area is situated on the Great Dividing Range 611km north of Sydney and stretches to the Queensland border. The region contains many national parks.

Tamworth is a major city in the region and is Australia's major centre for country music.Tamworth holds the annual Australasian Country Music Festival. Whilst Armidale offers a range of activities such as horseriding, abseiling, fishing and bushwalking.

The town of Glen Innes is known for its sapphire mining and visitors to the town can fossick for sapphires. Inverell has historic public buildings and a mining museum. Inverell was also a centre for sapphires as well as silver. The town of Tenterfield is the most northerly town in New South Wales and is the last stopping point before you reach Queensland.

South Coast

The South Coast  region of New South Wales is only a short drive from Sydney with Wollongong only 82 kms south of Sydney. This region stretches from the Southern Highlands to the Pacific Ocean. The region contains seaside resorts as well as lush rural countryside. Features of the South Coast include the magnificent  Seven Mile Beach, Stanwell Tops, spectacular coastline, mountain escarpments, valleys, rainforests and waterfalls along with rural paddocks and farmland.

Kiama is home of 'The Blowhole', the beaches, river and rainforest. Just a short drive away, at Jamberoo is the Minnamurra Rainforest with many species of ferns, trees and wildlife.

At Wollongong there is an abundance of patrolled beaches and scenic tourist drives along the coast.

Other attractions further to the south include Nowra, Batemans Bay and Bega. A coastline of sensational, unspoilt beaches are the regions main drawcard, however there are also the hills, hinterland, wilderness and dairy farming areas.
